Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Alan Hutton of BBC Radio 5 Live has been left thrilled by Gers chief Stewart Robertson’s revelation about Nathan Patterson’s move from Ibrox to Everton.

As per the Ibrox managing director, speaking to Sky Sports, Rangers have been handed a financial boost thanks to Patterson’s switch to the Premier League.
Indeed, following his transfer down south last month, in an agreement which could be worth up to £16 million, Robertson has claimed that this deal is likely to put the Teddy Bears in a ‘profitable situation’.
Hutton, reacting to this news, has shared his take.

The former Scotland international claims this update comes as an ‘excellent’ one with the £12m plus add-ons received becoming ‘huge money’ for Rangers.
“£12million plus add-ons is huge money for a boy that has come through the academy. It’s excellent it’ll keep them going,” said Hutton.
“I think the bigger picture is the Champions League, getting into that by winning the league.
“If you go back to previous players, who would have thought that it would have been Nathan Patterson. You think of Morelos, Kent, Kamara, these sort of guys.
“But Everton put their hand in their pocket and were willing to stump up a massive fee. So it’s good to hear that players are coming through and they’re demanding this sort of fee moving forward.
The Verdict: Big boost…
In the context of the SPFL, a fee rising to £16m certainly comes as a big financial boost for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side and it part of it could even be used to strengthen his side.
Bearing this in mind, Hutton is right to be thrilled by this ‘excellent’ news out of Ibrox despite the Glasgow giants waving goodbye to a great player in Patterson.
As Rangers look to towards the future both on the field and off it, this deal could certainly play a major role.
