It’s finally happened, Leeds United have announced their first signing of the January transfer window.

The Italian goalkeeper has signed on a three and a half year deal, and he will likely feature as the Whites’ third-choice stopper behind Kiko Casilla and Illan Meslier.
So why was he signed? He was brought in as additional cover for if Casilla is banned in the near future, and this arrival raises a huge question about when this saga will be concluded.
When will it be resolved?
Casilla was charged by the FA over two and a half months ago, yet we’re still waiting on any updates around that situation.
The former Real Madrid man’s date to reply has been and gone, but everyone is still none the wiser as to whether the stopper will be banned or how long for.
Fortunately, Carpile’s signing gives Leeds a contingency plan for if their number one is out for a considerable time.
It’s a saga that’s dragged on for what feels like an eternity but Leeds are now adequately prepared for life without Casilla, especially with Meslier waiting in reserve too.
He made a succession of saves against Arsenal earlier this month, laying down claims to start more regularly.
