Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott scored a little over 24 hours after his injury-time cameo in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, but manager Jose Mourinho wasn’t taking any notice, according to one journalist.
What’s he said?
Spurs were beaten by Wolves in a five-goal thriller at the weekend as Raul Jimenez handed a reminder to everyone in north London on what it is like to have a fit and firing forward at your disposal with his 73rd-minute winner.
Mourinho opted for Dele Alli as this week’s makeshift centre-forward while the 18-year-old starlet was only named on the bench because of an injury to Erik Lamela.
And on Monday night, the U23 squad played out part two of the above fixture with Spurs pulling off the reverse scoreline, this time winning 3-2.
Parrott found the net within six minutes of the match, but The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare claims the Portuguese boss was not even in attendance to witness the young crop of Tottenham prospects.

This must come as a devastating blow to the young Irishman as he’s taken his opportunity to shine, but the man he’s ultimately trying to win over wasn’t there to see it.

Mourinho has claimed several times that Parrott isn’t ready, both on and off the pitch, but this display, which has been described as “mature” by Football.London reporter Alasdair Gold surely is the first step in dispelling such thoughts.
“He’s not ready. He’s a good kid we want to help, not only on the pitch but off it. He’s a kid who’s going to have real opportunity but when we decide it’s right. He was on the bench because Lamela said he was not ready.”

The teenager who has been likened to Robbie Keane in the past signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract just last month to tie his future down to Spurs, but he’s only been able to make three senior appearances totalling 72 minutes.
Parrott isn’t even allowed to speak to the press whilst on club duty.
What more will he have to do to catch his manager’s attention?
