5 Transfers That Could Change Newcastle United’s Season

With just two wins so far in the Premier League this season, Newcastle United certainly look to have their work cut out in order to stay afloat in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe has steadied the ship somewhat since his arrival in the Autumn but there is growing concern that despite significant potential investment from the new Saudi ownership at St James’s Park, the Magpies could slip back down into the Championship come May 2022.

The commitment shown to the project by the new owners was instantly displayed with their first two January transfer window signings capturing the imagination of Toon fans the world over.

Chris Wood was acquired from fellow strugglers Burnley with the New Zealander possessing a superb track record of scoring Premier League goals and the prospect of him partnering with Callum Wilson has Newcastle fans purring.

Prior to Wood’s arrival, the capture of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid really got the footballing world talking and the right back has slotted seamlessly into Eddie Howe’s plans so far.

It would seem that Newcastle’s spending this transfer window and here are 5 prospects that could by playing their trade at St James’s Park this term:

At a relative impasse in his career, England international Jesse Lingard is attracting many suitors.

His loan spell at West Ham United last season brought him back into the football public’s consciousness and the attacking midfielder could fit the creative brief Newcastle and Eddie Howe have perfectly.

Currently priced at odds 1.56, it would appear as if Lingard’s move to Newcastle is imminent, and he could have a superb impact on the Toon’s season. However, with the boosts and other promotions UK betting sites allow new customers to improve the current odds by adding extra cash to bet with.

Operating in a similar position, Dele Alli has seemingly come to the end of the road at Tottenham, who are transitioning under Antonio Conte.

Still only aged 25, Alli has plenty to give for any side he joins, and it could be a move that kickstarts his career once more.

Coming in at 2.10, betting on Alli to join Newcastle certainly has value and Toon look to be the front runners for his signature.

Defensively, Newcastle have struggled this season and their remaining transfer targets all operate in the defensive line.

Snaring another player from Burnley could prove difficult but defender James Tarkowski would fit the bill perfectly in central defence.

The England international is famously no nonsense and his experience in keeping teams up at this level could prove invaluable for Eddie Howe and his coaching staff.

With money seemingly no object, Tarkowski could be attracted by a significant pay day at St James’s Park, and he is 3.00 to join Newcastle in the January 2022 Transfer Window.

Buying from abroad is also an option for Newcastle currently, such is their financial muscle and Sevilla defender Diego Carlos has been attracting Toon hierarchy.

Carlos is currently 1.67 to make the move to St James’s Park during this transfer window, suggesting that move could be quite far down the track.

Defensive recruits are readily available to Newcastle, such are their riches and Liverpool defender Nat Phillips looks to have the credentials Eddie Howe is looking for.

He wouldn’t be seen by many as the first choice central defender, but Phillips is proven at this level and could represent a good value buy at 2.75.
